For many of us, our dog is an important member to the family, just as anyone else, so we understand that it’s important for you to bring your furry friend along with you on vacation. Fortunately, there are pet-friendly OBX restaurants! Yes, the Outer Banks is a very dog-friendly place to be. Shipwrecks is a new restaurant to the OBX area. Located in Kitty Hawk in the old BK Shuckers building, Shipwrecks is one-of-a-kind and is an extremely pet-friendly Outer Banks establishment. If you’re ready for a party-going atmosphere, they have all fun you could hope for…from a laid back brunch scene to entertainment by local musicians. And don’t miss Shipwrecks’ backyard inspired outdoor atmosphere. Your pup can hang out right on the patio with you while you enjoy your meal. The best part is, they even offer a K9 cuisine menu!
OUTER BANKS PET-FRIENDLY RESTAURANTs – KILL DEVIL HILLS
Goombay’s is a casual place with tropical taste and maximum fun…good days and good nights at Goombay’s Grille and Raw Bar in Kill Devil Hills. Outstanding food and drinks in a family-fun, Caribbean setting. You and Fido can hit up the patio and enjoy their signature drink, the Goombay’s Smash – delicious on a hot summer day. The cocktail includes a traditional island recipe with a Goombay’s keeper cup, a blend of rum, juices, and coconut.

Jack Brown’s is also a fairly new Outer Banks restaurant. They just celebrated their one-year anniversary on May 31st. They offer more than 100 craft beers and an award-winning burger menu, and your four-legged friends are allowed on the front patio. Belly up to the bar, and have one of their staff members guide you through the world of craft beer and crazy burgers. Enjoy the all-around experience with your pup at the joint that is claimed in the name of good beer, good food, and good people!

This Nags Head restaurant is not only a locals’ favorite but the destination for hungry vacationers year after year. Their mouthwatering menu is only the beginning of what makes Tortugas so special. They have a spacious backyard where you can bring your dogs and enjoy a creative cocktail. Tortugas is also known for its sand volleyball court that is open to the public for use from 10 am to 8 pm in the summer. Grab your pup and a beverage, and head to the backyard just in time for the sunset at Tortugas Lie this summer.

Enjoy a delicious beverage on the shaded outdoor patio at Lucky 12 Tavern. Please keep in mind that your pup must remain on a leash while on the patio, and dogs are only allowed during the day. Lucky 12 features 20 beers on draft, another 90 by the bottle or can, and some of the most current, tastiest craft brews around. They also offer an extensive selection of wines and martini recipes.
