Thanksgiving on the Outer Banks 2016

Are you starting to feel Thanksgiving anxiety? What if the turkey is dry? Should I brine or fry it? Do my guests have food restrictions? Skip the endless search for the perfect recipe and the sink overflowing with dirty dishes. Go out to get your gobble on!! Make your reservation at one of the many fine restaurants that are serving up bountiful feasts featuring local fare and traditional favorites.   


Lifesaving Station at the Sanderling Resort – Serving a 4 course plated meal that will knock your socks off. Fine dining at it’s best. They will be open from 12–8 pm. Adults $55; Kids 4-12 $25. 

Red Sky Café –  Chef Wes’ buffet will have his signature Shrimp & Grits, Artichoke-Asiago Cheese Dip, fresh local oysters and shrimp, as well as the traditional Thanksgiving offerings. They will open from 11 am–4 pm. Adults $24.95; Kids 12 and under $12.95. 

Sunset Grille Traditional Thanksgiving buffet along with coconut shrimp, oysters, crab cakes, and all the flavors of beach life not to mention a stunning sunset. They will be open from 12–6 pm. Adults $24.95, and children under 12 $12.95. Call for a reservation. 

Kitty Hawk 

Hilton Garden Inn at the Kitty Hawk Pier – They will serving a feast with two seating options at 12:30 pm and at 3:00 pm. Turkey, locally caught seafood, Oysters Rockefeller, and much more. Make reservations. $25.95 per person, 1/2 for kids under 12, and 3 and under are FREE

Ocean Boulevard Bistro & Martini Bar –  Special four course dinner featuring a choice of turkey, Scottish salmon, New York strip, flounder, and many side. They are open at 3–8 pm (may stay open later) Adults $60. Under 12 $20.   

Kill Devil Hills 

Captain George’sTraditional Thanksgiving buffet, including crab legs, shrimp, and many other options. Open 11:30 am–9 pm. Adult buffet is $32.99, children ages 5-12 are $17.99, and children ages 4 and under are free. 

Mako Mike’s – Plated meal complete with turkey, Smithfield ham, dressing, greens, and more. Their complete menu will also be available. 12–8 pm. Adults $15.95. Kids under 12 $6.95. 

Beachside Bistro at the Seaside Ranch – Serving several plated Thanksgiving meals to simplify your day. Open from 11:30 am ’til 6:00 pm. Prices vary by plate.

Nags Head 

Basnight’s Lone CedarIf you are looking for locally-sourced selections, the choice is easy. A buffet that includes fried jumbo green-tail shrimp, Rockfish, oyster dressing, traditional dressing, turkey, and all the traditional Thanksgiving fixings. 10:30 am–6 pm. Adults $34.95, under 12 $17, Under 5 FREE. 

Dirty Dick’s Crab House – Will be serving up their ever-favorite Thanksgiving buffet, including a carving station with turkey, pork, ham, all the traditional Thanksgiving offerings, plus tons of seafood. Open 11 am–6 pm. Adults $28.99, seniors $23.99, kids under 11 $12.99, $9.99 per pound for to-go orders, and $37.99 includes AYCE crab legs

Kelly’s Tavern – Traditional Thanksgiving Day buffet. Serving turkey, pork, ham, dressings, as well as crab cakes just to name a few. Open 10:30 am–7 pm. Adults $34, seniors $28, children 5-12 $13, under 5 FREE 

Mulligan’s – Serving a traditional Thanksgiving Day Buffett including crab cakes, shrimp & grits, rockfish, flounder and lots of sides. Open 11:00am – 6:00pm. Adults $28, kids under 12 $14.00. They also offer a traditional plated meal with all the trimmings for $15.

Owens’– Enjoy a Southern Coastal Cuisine Thanksgiving Buffet. Featuring turkey, prime rib, stuffing, desserts, stuffed lobster, Hatteras seafood combination, and more—you gotta just see the menu. Open 12–8:30 pm. Adults $34.95, ages 6-12 $17.95, under 5 is FREE. 

Pamlico Jacks – Thanksgiving Buffet and Oyster Fest. Oysters on the half shell, oysters Rockefeller, smoked Rockfish, charred raw tuna, just to name a few. Plus all the traditional Turkey Day dishes. Open 10:30 am–7 pm. Adults $34, seniors $26, under 12 $16.95.

Get active before dinner by signing up for one of the many family friendly Turkey Trots that are going on all over the sandbar Thanksgiving morning. You can view the memorable Poulus Christmas House that has been featured on HGTV and the Today Show any evening throughout the holidays. On Friday and Saturday come spread the holiday cheer with Kitty Hawk Kites and the Jockey’s Ridge Crossing crew. Free visit and pictures with Santa, cocoa and cookies, and a light show with kites on Jockey’s Ridge are just a few of the fun and festive activities.
