Owens’ Restaurant – Nags Head, NC: Celebrating their 71st season, the Owens’ family invites you to come visit them for some of the best Southern coastal cuisine the Outer Banks has to offer.
Clara Owens’ crab cakes have been on the menu since 1946 when the restaurant opened, and the recipe has remained unchanged for 70 years. Owens’ offers innovative, trendsetting menu items too, but maintaining the consistency and integrity of the food they serve is always of the utmost importance. Everything that can be sourced locally is done so, and the food is prepared simply and respectfully – something that can be felt with every bite.
When you walk through the door at Owens’, it feels like coming home. Owens’ is a family restaurant in every sense of the word. The building is decorated with family heirlooms, local history, and artifacts that have been given to the restaurant by longtime friends and fans. Staff, many of whom have been a part of Owens’ for 20 or 30 years, greet new and returning patrons with the same warmth and Outer Banks hospitality.
“People have said that coming here is like coming home, and I think that’s the best compliment you could get,” says matriarch Clara Mae with a smile.
Whether you’re in the mood for the catch of the day or a prime cut of beef, incredible pasta creations, homemade desserts, or a farm-to-table salad, Owens’ looks forward to serving you. No one leaves hungry!
